Welders was awarded a contract for the design, engineering, fabrication, supply and installation of a critical Nuclear Sump stand-by Filtering System of a new concept, designed to ensure the protection of the Reactor Building of one major Belgium Nuclear Power Plant , to the exacting 10CFR50 standards.

The project entailed the removal of the old filters, and included a significant civil engineering scope, complicated by the extremely tight space and congested environment. Logistics was also complex in such a sensitive atmosphere with strict controls and checks.

Welders N.V. was able to successfully perform this daunting task in a record time of 2 and a half months, over the summer vacation period in Europe, in time for the plant shutdown and recertification by Statutory Authorities.
